Imagine a future, where charge is transferred through towers,
recharging your mobile while, even, walking in the streets, without any
physical connections, the charge being shared like Bluetooth, Internet.
Charging your electronic devices without plugging in, can certainly, give you
relief from those ubiquitous power wires, furthermore, some device might not need their bulky
batteries to operate. With
no doubts, this innovative idea can be the cornerstone in developing human
civilization and can provide new scope in technological field. Since, this
technology can play vital role in our daily life, many scientists and engineers
are giving their effort towards this wonderful concept.
Different methods of transmitting power wirelessly have been
known for centuries. Perhaps the best known example is electromagnetic
radiation, such as radio waves. While such radiation is excellent for wireless
transmission of information, it is not feasible to use it for power transmission.
Since radiation spreads in all directions, a vast majority of power would end
up being wasted into free space.
But, Team from MIT, in 2006, showed this idea can be true and
applicable. They proved it by lightning the 60 Watt light bulb from the power
source seven feet away without any physical connections and named it as
WiTricity. This was all based upon The Magnetically coupled resistor. It has got simple logic. For instance, if we
take 10 wine glasses and pour water with different level so that all have their
own unique resonant frequencies. A high pitch singer is allowed to make a high
pitch note, and the glass of corresponding frequency might accumulate
sufficient energy to explode the glass. Likewise, WiTricity is also based on using coupled
resonant objects. Two resonant objects of the same resonant frequency tend to
exchange energy efficiently, while interacting weakly with extraneous
off-resonant objects.
This idea is being investigated to
uncover more and more informations behind it. It doesn’t only revolve in the
mind of Genius, but also catches concentration of normal people. So let’s hope,
application of wireless charge transfer be introduced in front of the mass in
near future and even, let’s hope the technological field gets more advanced and
